Delhi government is doing something innovative and here's everything you need to know about it.

Yes, you read it right, this year Delhi will celebrate the festival of lights in an eco-friendly fashion!

On Monday, 21st October, Delhi's CM, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal announced the a 4-day community laser show, at Central Park in the middle of our beloved hangout spot, Connaught Place. This initiative is a measure to combat the severe pollution caused around Diwali due to bursting of firecrackers.

Why is this an amazing initiative?

Every year, hundreds of people all over spend a ton of money on polluting firecrackers, in the name of festivities. Honestly, bursting firecrackers that last less than a minute but also create a lot of noise and air pollution while adding to the garbage seem pointless to me anyway. Last year, the air contamination levels in Delhi reached hazardous levels and it became almost unfit for breathing. So, this innovative initiative by the Government is a certainly a step in the right direction.

Apart from the environmental aspect, it's an awesome and unique way to celebrate Diwali in the most 'Lit' way possible and bring people together!

What can you expect from the 4-day show?

The venue for the show will be Central Park at Connaught Place, Delhi, it's a great location considering the fact that it's easily accessible by public transport and is central. It will go on for four days from the 26th October to 29th October between 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm every evening.

There will be one-hour-long laser and light shows which will continue on loop and guess what's the best part about the show? The entry is free for everyone! Apart from the main attraction, several other art and cultural programmes will also be a part of these festivities. On top of that, you'll be able to relish the taste of local Delhi food because they'll have a bunch of food stalls too or shop your heart out!

Things to keep in mind

You should ideally take public transport as there might be some restrictions on private vehicles in order to avoid congestion. The best way to reach Central Park is via Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. But, there's not much to worry as parking facilities will be available at nearby venues and there'll also be deployment of electric vehicles to transit people from one place to another. The inner circle of CP will be pedestrianised!

So, let us all make this event a success and lit! I hope that people take inspiration from this initiative and follow the footsteps of Delhi Government.

So, take all your friends and family along there to celebrate a community Diwali instead of bursting crackers this year because it's like a grand yet eco-friendly Diwali party in the heart of Delhi! And everyone's invited!
