I have basically traveled to the north region of the country like Masoori, Manali, Kashmir, Chandigarh where you can find plenty of hills and lakes. For the sake of change, we visited Rajasthan. Visiting Rajasthan brought change in the theme of my traveling experiences as the majority of Rajasthan is covered with the sand and climate is quite humid very unlike the northern places I covered.

I have always been fond of riding bikes, so for bikers, Rajasthan roads are perfect. They are quite straight and one can easily raise the pace of the vehicle whereas the places we visited before were having very curvy roads and have to be fully concentrated and highly focused while driving. Another interesting thing was that the place was less crowded if we compare it to the area Rajasthan covers on the country’s map. That gave a different kind of peace to the travellers. Also, the houses you will find in Rajasthan follow some pattern, mostly they are in the same color because the rock they use.

The complete trip was of 3 days, we visited Jodhpur and then we headed to Jaisalmer and from there we went to Longewala( situated at the border of India and Pakistan).

We first visited the forts of the Jodhpur, it was a majestic experience as I have never been to any fort, the architecture was very eye-catching and from the fort, we were able to have the view of the whole city, after that we went to our hotel. Next day we headed towards Jaisalmer. The houses there were built of rocks which gave the complete feeling of time travel to some historic era. One common pattern can be easily observed while traveling in Rajasthan, like in Jodhpur the houses were blue in color and in Jaisalmer also the houses were in yellow-orange pattern due to the rocks used.

The last stay was Longewala, which was proper typical Rajasthani village which was between the sand dunes and there were huts. Although the village was electrified we experienced a complete feel of the village and we found a different kind of peace in the village. The villagers were in the traditional dhoti-kurta and pagdi and women were also dressed in the Rajasthani dresses and jewelry. Lastly, we also enjoyed the sand dunes. We also went close to the Indo-Pak border, proper fencing was there. The artillery and bunkers were also kept there which were destroyed during the War between India and Pakistan. One theatre was also built which projected the original clips of the war and that gave a very patriotic feel to every Indian.

The food you’ll get in Rajasthan is very spicy. I don’t remember the name but kachauri there was very tasty and street food has some unforgettable taste. We also tried Dal Bati ChurmaIf you are comfortable riding bikes then Rajasthan has the best road for driving bikes, although the roads are quite wavy but one can increase the pace, and even if you have four wheelers the driving will be quite easy without any significant pause. We used to rent bikes when we were in college. After that we got our own vehicles. We never tried online renting, we always approached the local renters.

If you are visiting the place with your friends or same age circle and also you are fond of riding bikes you should definitely opt for them rather choosing local drivers or local autos. What I believe is that the journey is always more beautiful than the destination. And do visit Longewala as it will give you a complete feel of proper Indian culture and also you can feel the bravery of the Indian army.
