Chitkul – The hidden jewel of Kinnaur...I started my journey from Chandigarh in a deluxe bus which goes till Reckong Peo..Getting down at Karcham was a wise decision to save time as buses to Sangla and Chitkul are accessible from here.

After halting for 1 hr at Sangla I proceeded to Chitkul and was one of my finest travel destinations so far.Bone chilling cold and wilderness all around this place makes it even more adventurous.

All passionate hardcore travellers should visit this place and I give them the assurance that the memories gonna last a lifetime.

Karcham is an important place in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is a 1000 MW Hydro-electric plant on the Sutlej river where the power station is located in Wangtoo. The dam is a delight to watch as there are mountains surrounding this dam and the entire landscape is mesmerizing..One will get hypnotised by the natural view there.
Sangla Valley is a place of utmost importance in the Kinnaur dist of Himachal Padesh..The snowy clad mountains of the Upper Himalayan region are best viewed from here.. It has also the famous Kamru fort where the Rajas of Kinnaur were crowned. It is easily the most scenic settlement and witnesses a huge flow of tourists. It has exceptional river side view and full of apple orchards. The entire picturesque near Sangla is mind blowing and passionate travellers will find this place even more amazing due to its location. The valley is covered with wild trees and flowers and mountains surround this valley all over.
Chitkul-the hidden jewel of Kinnaur and the last inhabited village of India near the Indo-China border. The Baspa river flows across Chitkul and the high flowing stream makes it even makes it even more enchanting. Snow remains almost throughout the year in this region and is one of the best places in India to get the finest glimpse of sunset across the snowy clad peaks of Himalayas. There are places of accommodation for both domestic and international tourists in this land. The entire village of Chitkul has a very artistic view and if one is a painter he can paint this place even more creatively using his paint brush. One of the best places to witness sunset across Himalayas is Chitkul..Buses operate from Reckong Peo and they charge around 200 RS to reach Chitkul..The entire road from Peo to Chitkul is very tough and challenging and the driver has to keep strict vigilance in driving to avoid any kinds of mishaps.
