Sunset at Lakshman Jhula

The trip from Hyderabad to Gangotri has all the ingredients of being a perfect short holiday trip. The main attraction of this trip is the temple where the river Ganga is believed to be originated from.

Starting from its climate to its natural beauty everything that this place has cannot be described through a short paragraph. If you’re a person who loves cold temperatures, pure rivers and more importantly snow filled mountains this is the place you need to visit in your next holiday.

Once you reach Gangotri, there are many things you can do but in everything you do you enjoy the natural beauty of this place.

So all you need to have are eyes, camera and guts to experience the awesomeness of this place.

My first destination was Delhi where I stopped for 5 hours to freshen up after a long train journey. I stayed at the Delhi Railway Station’s Dormitory. In those 5 hours I went around the capital city in search of food and items that would help me stay put throughout my journey.

My next destination was Rishikesh where i stayed for a night because of the restriction to travel on the ghat roads after 7pm as the route is famous for landslides. There was not much i did in Rishikesh other than visiting the Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula and the ashrams in the time i spent there.

Ram Jhula is an iron suspension bridge situated at Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh in Indian state of Uttarakhand. Built in the 1986, over river Ganges to cross the river and is a landmark of Rishikesh.Ram jhula is located at Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh. There are some of the Hindu ashrams and religious centers like "Gita Bhawan", and "Swargashram" located here. It is also a connecting bridge between Swargashram, Gita Bhawan and other temples with Sivananda Ashram. The bridge is also a scenic beauty which vibrates while you are walking on it.

Similar to Ram Jhula the Laxman Jhula is also an iron bridge built way back in 1929. This bridge is famous for providing us with one of the most beautiful sunsets of the world. This is a must see if you ever go to Rishikesh.

After this I started from Rishikesh to reach Gangotri by road. On my way to Gangotri i experienced amazing natural beauty and felt the temperatures dropping drastically as I went up the hill and this is where my protective gear like the monkey caps came out.Once i reached Gangotri all i did was retire for the day as it was heaven taking me into its cozy arms.

The next day was when the explorer in me woke up and took me to the Gangotri glacier where i had the adventurous pleasure of trekking for 18kms and on reaching the top the only reaction my body was capable of giving was my jaw dropping. After returning that night was literally the best because what’s heaven other than extremely cold climate outside and an extremely warm blanket besides you.

The Gangotri temple gave the trip the only missing ingredient: Cultural visits. The temple's location and its history tell us why India is considered to be the " The home of spirituality ".
