This quaint village in the French Alps has something for everyone – families, adventure enthusiasts, explorers and people who simply want to relax. Away from the bustling Paris, this splendid ski destination envelops you with its heady French charm and a little European flair.

Sights: Chamonix Valley is dotted with museums. Dedicated to agriculture and landscapes, visit the House of the Alpage (Maison de l’Alpage) located in the small commune of Servoz. The dreamy coastline is sprinkled with picture-perfect bays, beaches and coves and the mountain slopes adorned with olive groves and pine trees.

Sights: The Aragonese Castle, Sant'Angelo (fishing village in Serrara Fontana), Pilastri Aqueduct, La Mortella Gardens

Things to do: Go relax in any one of the 300 spas of the emerald island. Visit the 475 BC Fortress of Aragons or hike up to Mount Epomeo for chestnut forests and a panoramic view of Capri. Sights: Greenway (the summer home to Agatha Christie), Dartmoor (the Baskerville scape), Clovelly Historic Village, Lydford Gorge, Exeter Cathedral, Castle Drogo, Knightshayes Court, Plymouth Gin Distillery

Things to Do: Take a yacht to Dartmouth, sample wine from any one of the numerous vineries, take to the north coast for surfing, and the south coast for sailing.
