The Story

This small island less than half a mile from Venice is today a forbidden island with a dark and twisted past. Once a quarantine zone for people who suffered from the plague - people were burnt and buried alive there! Later, in the 20th century, a mental hospital was opened and it is said that the place was full of ghosts which made the Doctors do strange things and they ended up taking all their patients life.

How to reach

While the Italian tourism board prohibits visiting the island (on paper), there's a lengthy application process which requires approval. But as with most things, for the right price (about 200 euros), you can hire a person to take you over there without any approvals.
