Tnf-pedia on The Jag Mandir Palace:

Jag Mandir or Jagat Mandir is a palace built on an natural island in the Lake Pichola. It is also called the “Lake Garden Palace”. The palace is located in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The construction of the palace was started in 1551 by Maharana Amar Singh wherein he made a domed pavilion, the pavilion helped the Khurram who later became the Emperor Khurram, later on his son Maharana Jagat Singh I completed the work and turned it into the royal palace.

It is named as Jagat Mandir in honour of the last named Maharana Jagat Singh.

The royal family used the palace as a summer resort and pleasure palace for holding parties.

Jagmadir Island Palace story:

The story of Jagmadir Island Palace has a fairy start, it is located in the middle of The Lake Pichola.

We can reach the Palace taking a ferry boat ride, Each ferry boat carries around 40 seats which you can get from The City Palace Boat Club.

I have heard from many of them that Udaipur is famed as, “Venice of East” and yes now I will also be of that group, the boat ride will actually make you to step into a the book of stories.

The entire journey of an hour will give you splendid views of City Palace, the ghats and the mesmerising view of The Monsoon Palace built on the hill top. You can feel that you have step into a Bollywood movie scene looking at ghats and Bagore ki havelli.

Many Bollywood movies has been shot here like Raam-Leela, Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani and many more.

Cost of Ferry Boat Ride:

The cost of Boat Ride is on higher side, it will cost 450 INR per person.

Tip: Do take the ride to Jag Mandir Palace before 2 at noon as after 2 P.M each ferry boat ride ticket will cost you 700 INR.

Things to Do @ Jag Madir:

When you will reach close to the Palace, you will get back to history where in 8 artificial elephants made from marbles guarding the palace, and has a royal entry.

The palace island has many things to offer for your leisure times.

If you have days in hand at Udaipur, I will suggest you to visit during the sunset time. Trust me you will get a memory of a lifetime.

Conclusions:

Truly i gave a royal treat to myself, , and yes my dream of a fairy tale added in my books. The journey was little costly but heyyyyyyy……………. I added a day spend like Maharajahs. Overall the journey of ferry boat to the good times spend in the bar made my day.
