One of things that I had my list when we planned this vacation was to try local food. My list was way to long and it was impossible to explore all the places. I going to pen down , some must visit food joints.
1.Petha
Agra is famous for its petha and daalmoth. Day I got to know petha is made using ash guard ,I have unfriend it. Jokes apart, you’d see many shops selling these items but be aware, most of them are fake. There are only handful of shops where you get authentic petha. Gokuldas is one of them. Try honey syrup wala petha which is very hard to get elsewhere (sorry no pics)
2. Rambabu parantha
I have already posted on this. Nothing exceptional but worth giving a try just for the fact, they served at Golden Jubilee of Parliament in 2002 where late Mr. Jiggs Kalra arranged the spread consists of famous food joints from different cities. Shev paratha and mitha paratha (very close to “khava satori”what we Maharashtrian makes) is unique.
3. Chats
My colleague knowing my love for food insisted me to try chat at Sadar bazar in the evening and bedmi puri for breakfast at Pratapura. Unfortunately we couldn’t try either bit it because place where we were staying served us lovely homemade food with local variety so we ended up having most of our meals there.
4. Mughlai food
This was another thing that I wanted to try an authentic mughlai food. We were told by a localite to try some restaurant which is in civil lines area starts with “al”( can’t remember the name) but its not a place where you can dine with kids however we were told food is really good but didn’t try it out, instead we went to “pinch of Spice” and it’s a wonderful place (that was our birthday dinner J ). No doubt the food , service everything was good but I don’t think so what they served was authentic Mughlai food.
5. Home cooked food at Coral court homestay
Like I said before we had best meals there. I’m not sure if they serve to non staying guests too but food is simple,vegetarian and tasty. Do try their dal makhani it’s really yumm. I think we were so engrossed in eating that I forgot to clicked. Just one pic with breakfast they served.
