  • Overview : Situated on the banks of river cauvery with just the river separating the tamil nadu and karnataka,muthathi is nature at its best.The ride after sathnur is beautiful beyond words with the view of river flowing through thick forest as you descent down the road towards the river bank.A trek with official guide is recommended.

  • Type : Forest and Water
  • Food and Stay : Small hotels available inside town for food.Camping can be done .

Bheemeshari/Bheemeshwari Fishing Camp -

  • Overview : the government run resort has a lot of adventures activities including coracle ride,trek though forest,river walking. Ideal for couples and mixed gang, who are looking for a relaxing weekend.You can also trek here with permission from the forest guard.
  • Distance From Bangalore : 110-120 km
  • Type : Forest,Nature,Water,Adventure and fishing
  • Food and Stay: There is a government run resort ideal for fishing/river side walking.Slightly pricier but more structured as its a government property.
  • Transport : Taking your own cab/bike would be recommended.

Shivanasamudra -

  • Overview : Home to Gaganachukki and Bharachukki drops,shivanasamudra is one of the more popular tourist destinations around bangalore.Go to this place during moonsoons to see the waterfall in full flow. The coracle ride though a little dangerous is a thrilling experience. May get crowded on holidays/weekends.
  • Distance From Bangalore : 130-150 km
  • Type : Water,waterfall.
  • Food and Stay: There are various options for stay/food here.
  • Transport : Taking your own cab/bike would be recommended.

Talakadu (Jaladhama) -

  • Overview : Very much on the way to shivanasamudra, talakadu is a desert-like town on the left bank of the river kaveri. Whilest the town is ideal for architecture lovers with its various temples, the river bank is ideal for anyone looking for just go play in water.May get crowded on holidays/weekends.
  • Distance From Bangalore : 135-150 km
  • Type : Water,archaeological,historical,leisure
  • Food and Stay: Small make shift restaurants are available for lunch.Check Jaladhama resorts for stay if required.
  • Transport : Taking your own cab/bike would be recommended.

Mekedatu and Chunchi falls

  • Overview : Very much near muthathi,its basically a deep and narrow gorge along river kaveri ,the water is fast and it is not advised to play here. Chunchi fulls is a small waterfall near mekedatu. Refrain from playing/swimming in water as it is dangerous.
  • Distance From Bangalore : 130-140 km
  • Type : Water,sightseeing
  • Food and Stay: Small make shift restaurants are available for lunch on the way.
  • Transport: Taking your own cab/bike would be recommended.

NOTE: Most of the above places are water places to visit near Bangalore. So it is better to be very careful when playing in water and follow the rules set by the authorities.And respect the surroundings. Don't litter.

  • Overview : the most famous tourist spot near Bangalore,nandi hills very much lives to its reputation. Though crowded during weekends, its among the best places to visit near Bangalore. Though the top of the hills is safe,it is not recommended to stop in between if in a mixed gang as locals can be quite unruly.
  • Distance From Bangalore : 50 km
  • Type : Nature,sunrise and sunset,morning and evening drive.
  • Food : Stalls available on top.
  • Transport : own Transport recommended,usually crowded on weekends as it is a popular spot.

  • Overview: Ideally the best trek in Bangalore according to my opinion.Trek is a little difficult and dangerous.Taking a local guide is recommended. And trek is not open at all times.The view from the top is just mind blowing.

  • Food : small make shift shops available at times on top depending on season.

Hill drive cafe

  • Overview: This place is just before ascent to nandi hills . Go here to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountain from below with awesome maggi and hookah.Ideal for chilling out in the early morning before going to nandi hills of after coming down from nandi hills.
