Visiting Lonavala from Pune has been a regular drive for me but it never gets old or boring. The drive itself from Pune through the old bombay poona highway (as I like to call it) or even the Express Highway is just amazing. The view on both the highways is serene, green and comfortable driving. The traffic will be obviously a little heavy on the old highway but its beautiful passing through the hills and railway track. Once I reach Lonavala, first I do is start driving to the Lions Point. Its located a few kms from Tigers Point which is more famous with travellers here. But I like my trip more at peace and Lions Point has it all. ( View in photographs) A hot cup of chai (Tea), the view and peace. It just can't get better for a day trip near Pune. For me just a quick relaxation of the day.
( not only chai but u will get a lot of small eateries shop here. Right from kanda bhaji, maggie, butta(corn) in rainy season and trust me its yummy ) ( Do remember not to litter in the ever green beautiful spots)
After spending a good time here, I tend to travel to the city area of Lonavala where I enjoy a good meal at my favourite place called "Ranwara"( you will find the location in google maps) The cuisine, I love to eat here is Indian non - veg but it's great for veg too. And has a cozy simple ambience, please note nothing fancy but the food is delicious and the place is clean and neat.(in the pic)
You have many other options for Food in Lonavala right from German Bakery to Rama - a perfect place for veg food.
Also, since I am a foody, just besides the Rama Hotel you have small shops where you will get delicious Indian fast food. If you are a foody like me don't forget to try the moong wade with green chilly chatni. And then to top it all, a sweet dish the famous Maganlal "Chikki" or Fudge.
