What if I ask you let's go somewhere? The very first question which will come on your mind is where? But if you are going with good company, place doesn't matter. What matters is the people you are going with, that's what happened with us. So It was a Friday evening and a message occurred on the whats app group "Chalo kahi ghumne jaate aas pass, Shaam tak a jaenge" and within a minute someone replied "where??" And the legendary discussion of deciding a place got started. So I replied in a sarcastic way "wanted to go nearby? let's go to Vasai fort". I was shocked that people living in Mumbai don't even know about Vasai fort.

Vasai Fort also known as bassein fort or baçaim fort was built in 1184 by Yadavas of devagiri. The fort is situated in Vasai (Bassein) town in Palghar district. As Vasai is nearby Mumbai City, so the fort is quite popular in Mumbai. Fort offers more than a historical tourism bollywood have done movie shooting here, people also come here for photography, painting, etc.

We decided to meet outside Vasai road station. We gathered outside the station, but some are still left to come. So we decided to wait at bus stop. Late comers are always the one who lives nearby. We missed 2 buses waiting for them. After waiting and missing 2 busses finally everyone arrived and also the bus. Everyone got their seat and the journey started with some humour and music. We reached our destination. While getting down from a bus we saw a Shiva temple in front of the bus. Temple looks quite old and it was a Shiva temple so getting inside the temple was an obvious thing for us. When we came out of temple we met 3 juniors from our college. They also joined us.

Everyone at the fort does the basic things like sight seeing of the fort, clicking pictures, etc. We started by climbing the fort wall, it sounds crazy na? But we did that. Some of us couldn't climb so they came through steps. Jumping, Climbing from walls to walls we have done the sight seeing of the fort but all in different manner. We clicked the pictures not inside the fort but on the tree. I had one of the best ice golas till date near the fort.

We had seen the whole fort, there's nothing left to be seen. But we still have time left with us. So, we decided to walk till naigaon station instead of taking a cab or a bus. It was a 9km long journey. Without thinking for a minute we started walking. After walking for a while everyone felt hungry. We just entered a village. We were searching for a shop. We saw a wholesale shop of food items. It was so cheap and fresh we had bought a lot from there. After eating we were right back on our track. While walking through the village, we had seen a house where there was some wedding function. So we asked them for some water, they have given us the water and also have refilled our bottle. We started walking again, now we have entered another village. Outside this village there was a small old raw house. Which seems to be closed since, very long time. There was a place to sit outside the house. So, we rested there taking a 15 min break. We were on track again. After passing some farms we finally reached naigaon. We caught the train. It was a whole new experience for all of us. I suggest everyone should do this atleast once. Walking through the villages & farms is a different kind of adventure.
