Although there are many places to visit in and around Manali but "Jogini waterfall" amazed us in our last Manali trip. It's a kind of small trek of about 45min- 1 hour.
While trekking towards the waterfall you will see many places in between where you can get the glimpse of the falls. There is a small waterfall after 15-20 mins of climb. Many people assume this is the main waterfall, but it isn’t. The main waterfall is almost 1 hour hike above this one.
We first thought not to go till the end point as we started it bit late in afternoon and also weather was cloudy. But people coming from the top encouraged us to keep going and said that the view and the experience of the falls is worth trekking the steep hills.
If you are a beginner and have never trekked before, you might find this bit challenging. As the path is steep, you need to have at least some endurance. It can take anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hours to reach the top.
When we reached at the top the view of the fall was blissful, it was huge and freezing water flowing through the fall took away all our tiredness.
You will get local vendors selling water, Mazza and chips on the way towards the fall and they can help you with the path if you get lost in between while trekking to the top.
Few pointers while to keep in mind while visiting this waterfall:
1. Do this trek early morning or in afternoon as it’s not safe to do this after sun goes down.
2. Keep extra time in hand while coming down
3. Wear good gripped shoes while on this trek
4. You will get autos from Old Manali mall road to Jogini fall base and it will cost you around 200 Rs.
5. Bonus tip is while coming down there is a short cut path to Vashishth temple that goes through the village. You will get to see beautiful old style wooden houses and few cafes as well.
Don’t litter, travel responsibly.
Happy travel!!
