Day 1

For last couple of days we were staying in  small colorful 'Sohra' leading a simple uncomplicated happy and peacefull life. After visiting some of the tourist places finally we decided to gather some new experiences. Let's talk about that, let's talk about the small village Tyrna in lower Sohra.

From our resort 'Coniferous' we started early in the morning for Tyrna. In the Mawlynnong village we had already eyewitnessed the single root bridge and that was a whole new experience itself. This time our destination was one and only 'double decker root bridge' which was 2400 ft downstream of village Tyrna. Our car ride was upto Tyrna village. Beyond that it was a long trekking trail. We took a guide with us to show us the route to the bridge. Running own local shops, working as guides, driving cars, local farming are the some of the ways they have taken to get their bread and butter.

Tyrna is a clean and decorated village. Orchids and flowers surrounding every houses made it so much vibrant. Steep steps through the green jungle, leaves covered path, football ground of the villages, church and flowered Nongthymmai village - all were our guide and friend throughout our trekking path after village Tyrna. We crossed around 4000 to 5000 steps on our way to the root bridge.

It was such an amazing experience that we have never had before. The tiring journey just vanished in a second when we first saw that hanging steel bridge. We crossed two such suspension bridges on our way. You can see the greenish blue clear water of the auspicious Nongriat river below you when you will cross through the dangerously beautiful suspension bridges. Double decker root bridge was no doubt a great surprise, but the path was much more hard yet beautiful. The cool and pleasant ambience around the bridge diluted all our sweat and tiredness.

We stayed for only 4 days in the lap of this matriarchal society. But the affection and warmth mother nature and her children did provide us was unforgettable.
