Day 5

The lovely bantayan beach

This was my birthday trip and my first time going solo. And it scared me a little bit, even though I was travelling to my very own country.

This was also a long trip. From the airport I would travel to the bus station and from there, head to Hagnaya port. From the port, we would board a boat to Bantayan Island. This was unlike my Malapascua experience where we travelled on a small boat. This time we had a fair sized boat that carried vehicles (buses included) .

I would arrive to this beautiful resort (Anika Resort) just right about check in time.

My room was beach-front, like it was their birthday treat for me, and so that was fun.

I loved the sand which was reminiscent of Boracay, minus the sight of thousands of people. This was serenity for me!

Low tide. This sandbar showed up . I would indulge in its soft powdery texture beneath my feet. The clear and cool water was amazing.

I did not plan for any island hopping tour because I thought I'd just enjoy the beach thoroughly and it's what I did. I got a good tan from hours of soaking in the water and staying in the sand.

I've met which some old foreigner folks while swimming and they were having a blast, just like I did.

In the afternoon I decided to go downtown to check out some sights via the chartered tricycle. The driver took me to the old church, to the local eateries (I didn't go to any - just passed through), and to the cliffs where the mansions were built overlooking the sea.

It was a 2 night stay and a memorable one.

I was alright being solo. Nothing untoward happened.

I've also done a lot of contemplating which only happens when you're alone. I am thankful for it.

Bantayan, you were fun.
