Mural in the Palace.I know what you are think
This little hotel (semi-pricey) is as good as (if not better) a home stay would be. The caretaker makes sure that whatever you need is made available. All the touristy places and great restaurants are at a walking distance, but what steals the show is the location. Bang on Pichola with a breathtaking view from the terrace.

Easily one of the most well-kept palaces that I have visited. A part of the palace is still occupied by the royal family and the other part has been converted to a Museum. The catchy part is if you have enough cash stashed away under your mattress you can hire the lawns of the palace to have a private function or two.

Majestic. Grand. Intricate. Temples are either Grand or they are intricate but leave it to the Jain Temples to combine the two. The temples here are nothing less than art. The tiniest of details, the pious surroundings, the aura, everything about this place is simply marvelous. It does not matter if you are an atheist, you must visit this place as beauty has no religion :)

There are places that lose their charm quickly and then there are places that stay with you long after you have left them, Pichola is definitely in the latter class. The hotel that I was staying at (Raj Niwas) was at the lake and I couldn't have chosen a better location to stay. Morning you have your scrambled eggs with Pichola and the green mountains surrounding it greeting you and you finish your day with Roof Top Drinks with Lake Palace and Jag Mandir Palace all lit up and mirroring themselves in the Pichola Waters. It's beautiful. It Truly is!
