Day 1

Everyone love travelling to mountains, beaches and valleys but hardly few people visit our Borders. This time my trip was to Wagha Border (Attari border) which was located around 30 km from Amritsar. It is the only road between India and pakistan.
Attari border is famous for its "Beating Retreat Ceremony" whose purpose is to formally close the Border gate for the night and take-off the National flag of both nations.
I started my journey from Chandigarh at 9 in the morning and reached amritsar after 5 hour that is around 2 pm. From Amritsar we took Auto rickshaw which costs us 700 rs. Solo traveller can go there in cab sharing (no problem will be there in finding cabs). It took around 1 and half hour to reach Attari border. The road to Attari is well maintained with beauty of farm on full route. There are many dhaba's which are famous for "lassi da glass".
A circular platform is there for sitting purpose. Ceremony starts at 5 pm with the theme video of Border Security Force. Then it is followed by the dance which is performed by random person from public mostly female. After dance the permission is taken by a soldier from his senior to start beating ceremony. The slogans and songs change the air of full area, person can feel the goosebumps at that time and feel proud for being an Indian. Bharat Mata ki jai, Vande Matram and many other songs fill your soul with devotion for country. At last the flags are taken down with full honour. After ceremony we can go for a pictures with our BSF soldiers.
After the ceremony ended we went back to Amritsar.
