My first solo trip to this land of white sands was an exhilarating experience. People often travel for different reasons. Some are born enthusiasts, some go for luxury relaxation and some to de-stress themselves from daily monotony of work life.  But I took to solo travelling for an entirely different reason. Those were the days when I won't leave my bed with puffy red eyes. Yes, it was heartbreak. The days when things didn't work out with the person and the relationship you have given your soul into. Those adventurous plans with cosy captions you planned together ...Alas!.

Don't fall prey into the sympathy and soothing talks of people around you that "Time heals everything ". No, Time never heals. We have push ourselves out of that zone and accept the changed reality. This realisation sparked the travel enthusiast in me. I took to Solo travel and being a solo female traveller in India takes a heart. Hence, I mustered all my courage to visit this beautiful white sand desert to embark my first journey as a solo traveller.

To start off I took a flight to Ahmadabad which is little far around 400kms. I wanted to roam around the place so I chose this route. Alternatively, you can book a direct flight to Bhuj which is around 80kms from Kutch. Kutch has no direct connectivity either by bus or flight. We have to reach Bhuj and then hire a local taxi, auto or train to reach Kutch. I reached Bhuj in the wee hours of the morning on a chilly winter season. I hired an auto from Bhuj to Rann of Kutchch to roam all the place. While hiring taxis might prove as a costly affair, an auto costed me around Rs 6,000-7,000 for my entire 2days trip.

It was spine chillingly cold. Do carry your winter clothes if you are travelling between October to February. I arrived at Rann of Kutchch at 8am in the morning and stayed in one of their amazing luxury tents. They charged around Rs 2,500 per night including breakfast. If you have not hired any taxi or other vehicles, then the owner of these place can arrange vehicles for your travel in Kutchch. I would recommend this 8.5/10.

Rann utsav is a treat to watch. It depicts the intricacies of Gujarat culture with lots of fun activities, flea market and food stalls to relish your stay in Kutchch. But booking tents in the Rann utsav arena during the festival is an expensive experience.

To satiate my adventurous soul, I took to para-motoring which made my lifeless existence a meaning to value life. That moment when I saw the infinite expanse of white sand with Pakistan border on the other side while flying at 300-400 feet above the ground during the time of sun set, I felt invincible. An urge to live life and grow each day. It costed me around Rs. 2,500. And if you are planning to do a videography it will cost an additional Rs 1,000.

One of the best things to do in Kutchch is to pay a visit to this place during evening around 8pm. It is an experience that stays in your memory longer as it can only be captured by the blinks of your eye. Take a camel ride and bumpily roam around Kutchch when the moon beams fall and glitters your vision. It is an experience of your lifetime.
After experiencing these events, you can visit other places of historical relevance like Kalo Dungar, Kutch museum, Topansar lake or the beach city of Mandvi. Hope this blog serves as an effective guide for your next trip in Kutchch.
