The COVID-19 pandemic had a massive impact on the Indian aviation Industry. Sudden spread of virus created a lot of chaos and the airlines had to face challenging times. Despite that, a good number of airline companies came forward to help the ones in need. They have willingly stepped up to provide logistics and transport.

Airlines took the initiative to transport healthcare workers (absolutely free of cost) and to fly invaluable oxygen tanks. They have rigorously been flying internationally and domestically to boost medical supplies to the ones in dire need of it.

Support from Airlines is proving crucial to saving as many lives as possible.

Let's know which are these airline companies and appreciate them for all that they have been doing to tackle the COVID-19 wave.

INDIGO

Vaccines have to play a major role in fighting the virus and making the world Pandemic-free. In order to amplify the supply of vaccines, Indigo has been declared as the largest vaccine transporter across the country accounting for 36.5% of all vaccines flown as of April 12th. Indigo has time and again proven why its considered as one of the best airlines.

SPICEJET

Sources have to say that SpiceJet has recently transported about 1,000 oxygen concentrators from Hong Kong though SpiceXpress- the cargo arm of SpiceJet. The carried brought in another 800 of these concentrators from Hong Kong in addition to the ones already transported through their flight. They also promised to fly in as many as 20,000 more concentrators from vendors all across the globe to feed the growing demand in India.

VISTARA

There is no denying that without the help and consultation from Doctors and Nurses, we wouldn't have been able to save so many lives or let alone dealt with the pandemic at all. They are our heroes. Vistara took this amazing initiative to help fly frontline healthcare workers. They are offering tickets free of cost to all the Doctors and Nurses. They can book a flight from Vistara to reach their destination where help is required and then book a return ticket (which is free of cost as well). They are also continuously helping the Government by transporting medical equipment.

UNITED AIRLINES

As conveyed by Janet Lamkin, Senior Vice President Market and Community Innovation at United Airlines, "a new online fundraising campaign was launched. This was done with an aim to provide about 5 million bonus miles for donations and match up tp $40,000 in cash donations to Airlink Americans, GlobalGiving Foundation and World Central Kitchen. In Addition to that, the company's India Knowledge Centre in Gurgaon has launched a crowd funding campaign to benefit India."

This Airline has, with the help of its 20 flights, has transported more than 300,000 pounds of medical supplies to India. These medical supplies include Ventilators, Oxygen Cylinders, Medications and other Medical devices. They are also in constant touch with local community partners and relief organizations in order to ensure aid is getting to where it's needed the most. They are also ensuring constant supply of these supplies as long as they are needed.
