We booked our homestay in virajpet. The whole area is surrounded by coffee plantations. Its little far from the main attractions but we preferred it this way. I would recommend staying in homestay & not hotel. Coorg offers wide range of them from budget to luxury. Our homestay was 2km inside the jungle (which was awesome). Owner made delicious coorgi style idli sambar & chatni for breakfast. Go through AirBnb also, there were some good accomodation options. Why i am stressing on it so much is because it made all the difference in our trip. Usually homestay's can arrange for activities you are interested in.
We made a quick stop here. Beautiful waterfall, but overcrowded. Everyone is just trying to find a spot where they can get a picture clicked with waterfall.
One can take a bike or a 4WD vehicle. Ride itself is awesome (by that i don't mean roads). There is a view point and a highest point after that. Do go till highest point. View is breathtaking as soon as you cross forest area. Scene changes every 10 mins. It takes you inside a cloud to sunshine and back to cloud in no time.
I never saw so many monks at one place ever before. I am not sure if this is a daily activity. Looks like we were lucky to end up there on a day they had some kind of game competitions.
Its all about elephants. You can watch them bath, or ride on it. So if you are not too much into elephants, there is not much to see. Rafting options are there, but can't give feedback on that part. We didn't book it in advance & It was too much rush.
We decided to add this in our trip because.... why not. You have to take a ferry from udupi to reach here. Its 5 km from the shore and takes 45 mins. They let you stay there for 2 hour about.
