Ki Monastery

Tripoto
A Buddhist monastery in Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is home to around 300 lamas who receive their religious education here. After learning the impact of Tibetan culture in Spiti, I decided to explore more about Dalai Lama and his teachings. Much to my surprise, I found that his teachings are not religious but deal more with personality development and teach the art of living. I quote his words - " This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple - the philosophy is kindness". I feel that this view in my photograph complement his words - identical white box-like simple houses right in the midst of untouched nature - a perfect amalgum of humans and environment. What more than a four walled room do you need to cover your head ? And then there is this beautiful view to guide you everyday- the open sky depicting your limitless imagination and capabilities, the sturdy mountains depicting strength and determination and the flowing river depicting the importance of change. Each sunrise gives birth to new opportunities and the sunset brings out the North star giving you a sense of direction.
