Arrival in Pondicherry via Auroville....this is the best route. All highway. Shop at kalki boutique for candles and other handicrafts.
We stayed in French town. Roaming around on foot or by a two wheeler is best for exploring French town in Pondicherry.....the whole french town is limited in four parallel streets. French town also has many shops where you can buy paper lamps and lights. A good investment. This part of Pondicherry also boasts of some amazing restaurants. Explore them.
Go to paper factory later in the day for some amazing paper products shopping.
Travelling back to Coonoor. Took the google map route and regretted it immediately. The first hour or so is through very busy towns. It's best you return through Auroville route. Adds a few kms but its highway all the way. Happy driving!
