Bangkok is the exciting and cosmopolitan capital of Thailand, known for its impressive temples, colourful markets and vibrant nightlife. It’s a fascinating travel destination with a staggering population of over 10 million people. Bangkok’s  swanky new airport, Suvarnabhumi International is certainly impressive and is just 45 minutes outside the city. Once in the city you will be taken aback by the casual atmosphere around, but don’t let it mislead you as there will be lots in store for you. It's fairly easy to get around in Bangkok as the transportation options are numerous. One can take the Sky train which is a stress free way to travel around the city and it goes almost anywhere. Taxis too are found everywhere and are relatively inexpensive but it’s good to remember that Bangkok is a heavily congested place. Tuk tuks are a typical form of Bangkok transport. They are great fun for a quick ride but if you get stuck in heavy traffic, open vehicles and air pollution can present health hazards. The price should also be decided before you set off. Another popular mode is travelling by canal boat which is a fast and easy way to get around Bangkok. Several canal lines operate along the Chao Phraya River. However If one really needs to beat the traffic then it is best to hop on to the motor bikes which will zip across and make you reach your destination in no time.Bangkok is a modern city with a rich history. This can be seen in the visits to Wat Traimit  and Wat Pho.The attraction in Wat Traimit  is undoubtedly the impressive 3m tall, solid gold Buddha whereas in Wat Pho one can be dazed by 46m long reclining Buddha. One should not miss a visit to The Grand Palace complex, once the official home for the Kings of Siam, is unquestionably one of the Thailand's major tourist highlights.Bangkok is as entertaining during the day as in night. There is plenty for our day shoppers. One can stay in central areas like Sukhumvit, Siam square or Ploenchit and be in close proximity to all the attractions. Shopping can be done on streets like Pratunam or in malls line the Central and Paragon or a wholesale market like the famous Chatuchak weekend market. Shopping in Bangkok is like a nonstop day and night activity. One can enjoy the night life with shopping, in areas like Patpong. No wonder Thailand is called the shopper’s paradise. There are plenty of surrounding areas around Bangkok which are worth a visit. One such place is Pattaya which is hardly two hours away and one gets to enjoy various sea sports on its lovely Coral Island, which is a short ferry ride away. Hua-Hin, which is also a three hour drive, is a nice unexploited place to enjoy the surreal natural beauty.Bangkok will treat you like it’s a home away from home. This vibrant city grows on you over time and you will eagerly wait to come back yet again.

Here one can lay hands on anything under the sun.The alleyways can be quite confusing at first but seeing so many things under one roof you will not mind wandering a bit.
