If you are planning a post monsoon trip to Udaipur then first of all Good Job! If you really want to witness some beautiful panorama view from some famous hills then this is the ideal time to visit Udaipur . This is the city which stands opposite from the real picture of Rajasthan that people carry in their mind before visiting here. No, you are not going to face dry, or sandy roads or desert or hard sun. In fact, you will witness lots of lakes here and that is why this city is also called as City of lakes and many people also know it as Venice of the east. Well! There are lots of things you can do here and believe me you cannot complete the city tour in just one day.
Ideal Season to visit the place
In monsoon from July to September.
In winters from December to February. Visit Shiplgram if you are coming in December end.
Visit in March to see Holi at Jagdish Temple and Gangaur Utsav which is extremely famous among foreign travelers.
How to reach the city
Coming from Delhi: You can find direct trains, buses and flights from Delhi to Udaipur. Traveling in the train is affordable and comfortable. Fastest but the expensive mode is flight certainly. You can take NJP UDZ Express on Tuesday which will take 15:30 hour to reach Udaipur. Mewar Express and Chetak Express runs daily and takes 12:30 hours. You can visit the IRCTC website and check for the rates. You can also take direct buses from Delhi. These buses take 12 to 13 hours to reach Udaipur.

These buses take 8 to 9 hours to reach Udaipur.

UDZ SUPER FAST train runs thrice in a week, Tuesday, Thursday and, Saturday and takes 16:30 hours. You can also take direct buses which take 13 to 14 hours.
What to see in the city and where to eat?
Not necessary you visit each place. Depending on your time and budget you can make your own itinerary.
You will find many snack carts standing on your way to Fateh Sagar Lake offering delicious snacks, including, Samosa, Kachori, Khaman, and Poha. After a sumptuous breakfast and lip smacking tea visit Fateh Sagar Lake. This is the time you will see very less crowd and get to click some beautiful panoramic pictures. Take a walk on the lake Bund (Paal). You can go to Moti Magri afterwards, another place near Fateh Sagar , also known as the memorial of Maharana Pratap. You can sit and chill there for a while. Lay down on the grass and just close your eyes to unwind. Go to Badi Lake and click a few more pictures. This is a serene place and ideal to chill. By that time you will be getting hungry, to eat Rajasthani food visit Panna Vilas restaurant, Raaj Bagh, or Ranaji. There are many others too, but these are some famous restaurants near Fateh Sagar. If you are eager enough to witness the post monsoon beauty and a mesmerizing view of the entire Udaipur city and Aravali hills, visit Sajjan Garh (Also known as Monsoon Palace). The scenery is to die for. After that move ahead and visit Sajjan Gharh Sanctuary. You can eat dinner at, Lal Bagh, 24 Carat, Yellow Chillies, 1559 AD or restaurants near Fateh Sagar suggested by the food websites. Come back to your hotel and here day 1 ends.
On the way to Karni Mata temple, at Gulab Bagh, you will find many good snack carts. Go for Alu poori or Paratha. Another hill, Karni Mata Mandir gives you a glimpse of another side of this city. You can use Gondola to reach up. For Indians , it is 72 INR per head and for foreigners, it is 300 INR. Next is City Palace tour. It will take 2 hours to tour the entire palace. This is the most searched and visited place in Udaipur. You can also visit Jagdish Temple. Around Jagdish temple which is also near to City Palace you can find many roof top restaurants for lunch. People will guide you to the good one. Now get ready to see the famous Ghangaur Ghat which is also called as Pichola Lake, try Shikara ride. Visiting Ghangaur Ghat and missing Bagore ki Haveli would be a mistake. Visit Bagore ki Haveli to see the cultural program and take pictures with the performers while dancing. That should definitely make a space in your travel album. Or you can skip Bagore ki haveli and go for evening sound and light show at City palace. For Dinner near Ghangaur Ghat you will find plenty of options, I would personally recommend Ambrai or Upre. View wise, taste wise, and price wise these restaurants are best. Plus they have liquor menu. Return to your hotel and end the day. All these places mentioned in day 2 tour are very close to each other, hence you can walk.
This is the day to trek and get some sweat, but after you reach up there at Neemach Mata Temple cool breeze will help you get rejuvenate again. You will find the view of Fateh Sagar and other hills to die for. Stay for a while, take Prasad, and then come down to visit Saheliyo ki Badi (Courtyard of the Maidens). Go to Navidya restaurant, Sanskriti restaurant or any restaurant suggested by food website. After lunch, do shopping at Hathipole, Maldas Street and buy dresses, metal ornaments, and Rajasthani Mojadi in a very reasonable price. Try to bargain. After that enjoy Puppet show at Lok Kala Mandal. For dinner near Lok Kala Mandal try Laal Bagh, Udaipuri or any other restaurant suggested by the food website. This would be the end of your Udaipur Journey.
Where to stay
Staying at a resort will be the best idea to enjoy the real side of Udaipur. If you are travelling on normal budget try, Paras Mahal Hotel, Jeevan Tara Resort, Vishnu Priya, or Rupi's resort. Bhairavgarh, Udai Garh, Heritage resort are other good options. For budget hotels you can find many good options near Jagdish Temple, and City Railway Station.
Overall, you will have a nice time staying and touring here. If you think a few things need to be added or corrected please share.
