We Conducted a Dipstick Survey on the Best Beach in India, and the Results Will Surprise You

Tripoto recently asked the Indian travel community which is the best beach they have been to, and our Instagram followers were more than excited to tell us. Based on the 800+ answers that we received, the following are the results.

Radhanagar Beach (C) Ishika

With more than 400 comments citing out their love towards this beach in Swaraj Island in Andaman & Nicobar archipelago, the travellers have declared Radhanagar Beach to be the best in India by a huge margin. Travellers love the white sand and the blue skies here. Away from any urbanisation, this beach, is indeed, and should be visited once in your lifetime. The other beaches on the island – Elephant Beach and Kala Pathar Beach are equally popular.

Next beach that received the traveller community's love is Varkala. With a unique feature of a 80-feet cliff providing a wide view of the Arabian Sea down below, Varkala makes for one of the most aesthetic beaches of the mainland India. It is well connected to major cities of Kerala, and is a favourite among foreign visitors. The nature has blessed Varkala with enormous beauty that will leave you gasping.

The beaches of Gokarna, namely – Paradise, Half Moon, Kudle and Om beach are a favourite amongst the travellers who wish to see beautiful beaches away from crowd. The four beaches here offer distinct ambience to travellers with different tastes. While Kudle is known for beach sports, Om beach is popular for its interesting shape. Paradise and Half Moon offer beautiful views which are etched on the mind.

Kovalam beach is known for its cleanliness and quaintness. It is not a party destination, and travellers love the serene environment here. Not very far from Varkala, people prefer to visit the beaches in Kovalam for a cosy, relaxing experience.

While Goa is the most popular beach destination in India, the most loved beach in Goa is Palolem. One of the longest beaches in India, Palolem in South Goa is a mix of party and tranquillity with no compromise on beauty. Mostly enjoyed by elderly foreigners , this beach is also popular among solo travellers and people seeking a natural bliss.

A 30 minute boat ride off the coast takes you to Paradise beach on an estuary in the southern part of Pondicherry. The beach is away from population and visitors swear on its beauty. Travellers love Pondicherry, and they do not miss out visiting this beach on their visit to the French colonial town.

Dhanushkodi is one of the most spectacular places in India that offers marvellous view of the Indian Ocean meeting Bay of Bengal. It is one of the popular tourist spots where people come to see the remains of Ram Sethu (Adam's bridge). Despite heavy tourism, the beach is very pretty and thus a favourite of many Indians.

The most famous beach of North India, Arambol is a 15 km stretch of white sand. It is a great place to unwind, soak the sun and delight in delicious food and great people. There are many beautiful spots close to the beach such as the fresh water lake that are amazing.

Another beach in Goa that is loved by travellers is Vagator. Recognised as a clean beach with rocky terrain, the beach looks very picturesque. Visitors enjoy taking a dip here, and keep it in their Goa bucket list.

Ramakrishna beach is the most popular beach on the east coast of India. It is known for its cleanliness, beauty and accessibility. The state government takes great care to maintain the aesthetics of the beach, and as such it is effectively guarded against any miscreants.
