Mt. Kalsubai is the highest peak of Maharashtra. It is also called as the EVEREST OF MAHARASHTRA. It is located in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district in Akola taluka. It's elevation is 1,646 m (5,400 ft).It is about 32 km from Igatpuri Railway station and 5okm from Kasara Railway station.
How to reach : You need to reach the Igatpuri or Kasara Railway station by train. After that there is First Bus from Igatpuri to Bari Village at 5:00Am from Igatpuri Bus Depot . It will cost Around 40rs per/person. The buses will be for Pune, Akole, Bhandardar which will pass through Bari village
Including me we are 6 friends decided to go for trek to Mt. Kalsubai. Our Journey started from Kalyan (Jn). from Kalyan we catch a local of 9:54pm to kasara .
Due to pandemic we didn't got ticket direct for Igatpuri . So, we travelled by local train to KASARA about 1hr 20min Journey. After that we catch a Mail/Express from Kasara to Igatpuri It takes about 30-35 min to reach Igatpuri. "Any train that halt at Kasara will also halt at Igatpuri"said by an RPF officer, there is rarely any stoppage train to Igatpuri.
From IGATPURI Railway station we walk 450m to IGATPURI Bus stand (west)
As we reached early at Igatpuri we wait around 5hrs at Igatpuri Bus depot For first bus to Bari village which is at 5:00 Am
we experienced slight down in Temperature in these areas
At sharp 5:00Am we got the bus for Bari village
If you are planning to trek to this place make sure u should be at Igatpuri around 4 to catch first bus. Reach as Early as possible to Kalsubai for better tracking experience
We reached Bari village at around 6:00Am
We started our Trek from Bari village Bus stop ,the elevation from there to Kalsubai peak is 1646ft.
It was about 6.6km walking trek from Bari village to peak.
There were no water available in village as well as on the way to trek. It's available but very costly. There is no other sources to drinking water. So, carry as much water as you can.
At every distance of 100-200m there were small tents/shops were Nimbu paani,water, Snacks etc.. are Available.
we were very excited for the trek ,but the destination was not that much easy as that we thought. It need much Stamina to reach at top. There were so many risky Places you encounter on the way.
There were so many monkeys on the way, they were very cute and annoying, beware of them.They follow us on the whole trek.
There were around 6-7 dangerous Iron steps to reach to top.
It takes us about 5 hours to reach at the top of peak including on the way rest. We reached around 11:30Am at the top. It was great feeling to reach at the top, it was very relaxing .One can enjoy the nature from the top view of the peak.
We did our lunch at the top of the peak in between annoying monkeys.
While returning it takes around 2-2.5 hrs to trek down the peak.
The returning Bus is at Every hour like 2 (3,4,5Pm) For Kasara and Igatpuri . If you are returning from igatpuri its better to book train(07617) one day before trek, Its about 19:15 from IGATPURI Railway Station.
The round trip cost we faced is around 300-350Rs per/person.
