so the journey started long before i embarked for the Hampta Pass. infact the journey had started the very first time i saw this lake in one of my friend's facebook post. from that time on words i always used to see for the ways i can go to this lake. But it never happened. have you ever heard from one of your elders talking to other about some temple saying 'jab mata ka bulawa hoga, chale jayege' i feel the same for the places , when the place really decides to meet you the place somewhow find you. and so it happened that even when i was on my trip to Spiti i could not go to chandratal due to heavy snowfall that year even in the month of May.
and suddenly when I was not really thinking about it i suddenly made plan of Hampta pass trek(I am little impulsive that way) and when i started booking for the Hampta pass i found out i can go to Chandratal as it is part of the package , happiness somtimes have no limits you know.
And so i completed the hampta pass and it turned out to be one of the most unique and beautiful treks done so far. and then at the last day of trek the day came when we left for 'The Chndratal'
This road is not for fainthearted i should say, although for me i had seen the road from kalpa to spiti so it wasn;t that scary but few people in van i guess started chanting mantras too. there are rivers flowing literally on road, herd of sheep blocking your way roads in worst conditions and yet when you divert your mind and look around you, you can find heaven or almost heaven.
So after almost 5 hours and which felt like 5 years journey we got down in the valley from where we walked around more 1 hour . you can see many camping sites here and if you want you can camp there too if you have come only for chandratal although i would always suggest you to combine it with Hampta. so after walking like 1 and half hour we reached Chandratal.
i cant explain you in words the joy of that moment you can understand it very well if you are a traveler have loved a place for so long and then suddenly you meet it.
that crystal clear water the serenity of the mountains i lost myself for some time there . for some time there weren't other people at all it was just me and the lake saying 'so finally we have met'
no matter how much time you spend there its always less
and so trying engulfing all its peace all its serenity and all the beauty that place hold i tried to secure it in my phone camera as best as i could but you know what you never can capture all of it , can you?
