Day 1

Barsheni

Firstly, the trip cost is excluding the flight fare (I travelled from Chennai) and bus fare from Delhi. I took an overnight bus from Delhi to Bhuntar. The next morning I took a bus from Bhuntar to Barsheni. The govt. bus is cheap travel option and it is on time. After getting breakfast at Barsheni (which is the last stop) you can start on your journey to Kheerganga. It is a straight route and you will meet many fellow hikers on the way up.

The trail can be narrow at points but it is safe. You may also cross small streams. Enjoy the time and keep moving.

Take out some time to chill at the Waterfall Cafe which comes along the way

Reach Kheerganga late in the afternoon. Lot of camps will be available. One cheaper option is the Dharamshala which is near the hot water spring. The small wooden rooms are cozy and away from main crowd. You also get complimentary dinner (delicious rice and rajma)! Take a dip in the hot water spring and chill for the day. The food will be overpriced!

Day 2

I decided to explore the route to Tunda Bhuj (it is a milestone in the Pin Parvati Pass Trek). The weather is clear and the river flow past the trail. Any local can tell you which route to take. Note that the route itself is isolated and I kind of got lost for about 30mins. Thankfully I was able to get back safely by 3pm.

If you love the trail and don't mind being alone, explore some time around the trail to Tunda Bhuj

Came back in the afternoon for another dip in the spring. After dinner of rajma and rice with some fellow hikers, I was done with my second day at Kheerganga

Day 3

Left early after breakfast the next day. I decided to take the alternate route down to Barsheni. This one passes over the water dam at Barsheni. It also crosses the temple at Rudranag. I reached Barsheni and was lucky to get a shared cab which was going to Tosh. It is only 3km away but the climb is steep.

I got a budget room in Tosh. After lunch I went out to explore Kutla which lies higher up. On the way you can find a cafe sitting right on a waterfall. (the beer gets chilled in the stream itself)

Kutla

Kutla is a small village and isolated from the main crowd. It is very beautiful. I went further up towards a certain Budaban glacier but I could not find it. After I reached a small wooden crossing I turned back because I wanted to get back before dark. I returned in the evening to Tosh and had dinner at a Punjabi cafe.

Day 4

The next morning I walked down to Barsheni after breakfast. I took the govt. bus back. On the way I stopped at Kasol to have some food and explore the local market

Kasol

I explore Kasol for a couple of hours. Later I returned by the same govt. bus which picked up passengers from Kasol. In the evening, I reached Bhuntar on time to catch my bus to Delhi.
