The first planned city of India and the biggest city of Rajasthan, Jaipur is popular as the pink city. Being in Delhi Jaipur is my best weekend getaway. I love the place for its food, culture, magnificence and vibrancy. Call it the heritage attached with city or the huge forts present or the majestic palaces, that you have a royal feeling all over the place. But trust me this is just not it, if you come to Jaipur because of the royal building and castles or becaue of the heritage, you got more to it, the city has beautiful tranquil temples and above all large scale celebration of festivals. Jaipur for me is an ideal tourist destination, gives you exquizite handicrafts to take back, splendid jewellary, mouth watering food, insight to our history, marvellous arcitecture: All in all a perfect place for hoilday.

Once capital of Jaipur and also known as Amer palace this place portrays a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Though the fort is old and looking from outside you would know it yet the red sandstone and marble fort looks huge and splendid. The fort though is a small trek uphill but totally worth it. You can also go for the royal elephant ride. Its 11 Km from Jaipur and a must visit place.

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh built this beautiful palace and also reigned and operated from the palace. City Palace is situated in the heart of the pink city. The architecture again shows a beautiful blend of Rajput, European and Mughal style. While in Jaipur you can not miss the City Palace as this is the landmark and the center point.

The Rajput ruler made this beautiful five storeyed palace in the heart of the city and which is also popularly known as the Palace of the Winds. The Palace is said to have 953 “Jharokas” and in the shape crown of Lord Krishna. This was made to facilitate an airy palace for the women.

The majestic Jaigarh fort is connected to Amber fort and it is said that the fort was created to fight the battle and storing the heavy ammunition. Its a long walk if you want to cover the entire fort walking. Every place every corner gives you a virtual walk in the rich history. The Palace contains the world’s largest cannon on wheels. It also has a museum which portary’s the Raja having his meal, several women siting together, a thali ready to be served and various other statues that gives you an insight into the life those days. It also has the assembly hall for the warriors. A three kilometer walk through this fort is a treat in real sense.

I am a frequent visitor to Jaipur and the credit goes to this place. This place is so much full of vibrant and life that you just cant get enough. Entering the place you see small troupe performing welcoming you in a traditional way. Then you have lot of Rajasthani cuisine. People singing the folk songs performing various type of stunts, magician sweeping you off your feet and the handicraft to win your heart.
