Day 1

I have been a backpacking traveller most of my life and thus have enjoyed the perks of spontaneity and adventure. The journey that we embarked on 08th Aug 2015 was no different apart from being my first significant trip after I found my dream job and working day in and day out to treat myself with a soul quenching break.

The enthusiasm was on its peak when we (me and my 3 friends) finalised Andaman and Nicobar islands (Indian union territory) as our first travel destination together. I have been travelling to various parts of India since childhood by road and rail, however, this was my first time by air. Nothing could be compared to my eagerness for this travel. After a yearlong of hard work and sleepless nights at work, I had finally earned this chutti.

If you are planning a trip to Andaman, it is advisable to plan a group trip. Being from aviation industry and as per the approval of our leave schedule, it was feasible to book our tickets a day before our journey. As it was my first time in the window of a giant mechanical bird taking off, my excitement was anything but mellow.

Early morning landing view of the Asia’s longest beach and world's second longest beach- The Marina Beach was breathtaking. The extensive coastline with waves gushing onto the shore painted a fierce yet serene picture for my eyes.

After a quick visit to the church we dropped by the bustling Marina Beach.

It was early morning with joggers aiming for their personal best distances, coaches compelling the young sportsmen for a few extra reps of push-ups and kids with their grandparents taking a casual morning walk. The sound of the waves was meditation for my ears and the rays of the morning sun a dazzle to my eyes.

Before heading back to the Airport we decided to take a quick bite at a famous breakfast joint in the locality. I recommend you to try dosa and chutney, idlis and vada sambhar a mouth-watering south Indian delicacy served with perfection.

It was time for our connecting flight to Port Blair and the enthusiasm was soaring high as we were only a few hours apart from ultimate vacation. To our amazement we were upgraded to business class {some perks that come along when you work in the same industry ;)}. The senior flight attendant put in his best efforts to add some extra glam to our flight experience by serving artisanal cookies and delicious juices. He was kind and delightful while discussing our itinerary and also guided us with some quick tips and a few do's and don’ts.

stay tuned...
