My Jaipur trip was more of a spontaneous trip than a planned one.My brother and i decided to have a sibling trip for year end and we landed on Jaipur as it was reachable from both Bengaluru and Delhi. There are many direct flights from Bengaluru to Jaipur. And Jaipur is well connected by road and train from Delhi and other major cities in Northern part of India. Jaipur Airport is 7-10 km from the city, it is easy to reach the hotel by taxi, auto etc.
On day 1 we planned to visit the places in the city as we were still adjusting to the weather . We booked a cab to Jaipur city palace and after that we walked to nearby places.There is a minimum entry fees 50 to 100 INR for Indian nationals and additional fees if you are carrying a camera as well. All the places are open till around 5 PM.
We reached Jaipur City Palace by 1 PM and then took the tickets. It took us around 2 hours to see the palace. There are guides also available. Few things which I remember about the palace are Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal and Diwan e khaas. The best part was the puppet show at the exit.
Next place on our list was Jantar Mantar, I would strongly recommend for a guide for this place. We were able to see the functioning of 4-5 instrument out of 19 astronomical instruments. We were not able to hire a guide due to time constraint.From Jantar Mantar we walked till Hawa Mahal (using google maps) and asking for direction.We strolled around Baapu Baazar and Johari Baazar and bought pair of puppets for myself. If you are good at bargaining then it is a delight to shop here.Lot of street food stalls are available if you are into street food.We finished our day with visiting Albert Hall (though it was closed by the time we reached) but the sunset colors were wonderful
On day 2 we booked a cab for the whole day, it was around 1500 INR. Amer fort is situated on a hill in town of Amer which is about 11 KM for Jaipur. Due to the holiday season it took us 2 hours to reach. We roamed there for 2-3 hours and if someone is a Bollywood fan parts of movie Bajirao Mastani was shot here.
After Amer fort we went to Jaigarh fort. There is a passage connecting Amer and Jaigarh fort. In Jaigarh fort world’s largest cannon on wheels of that era ‘Jaivanna’ is kept. It was already 5:30 PM by the time we came out of Jaigarh fort. Then we went to see Jal Mahal Palace, it is between Amer and Jaipur. It is serene sight to look at amidst the hustle bustle of the city. Palace is 5 storied and only one floor is above water and is located in middle of the Man Sagar Lake.
We were here for an hour, ate evening snacks and headed for Chokhi Dhani for dinner. It is place where you will get authentic Rajasthani food in there style with entertainment. The place is huge and the crowd that comes there is huge. I would suggest to come early to avoid rush (5PM-11PM).
For day 3 we had Bhangarh fort planned but considering the previous day traffic we chose to skip the place.
We visited Birla temple as known as Laxmi Narayan temple. Birla temple is located in the foot of Moti Dungri fort and looks stunning in night with all the lights and in day its bright white marble. Temple also has its opening timings, we went in the time slot of 2PM-4PM.
Third day I had less places planned as I had flight back to Bengaluru the same day in evening.
