My parents trip to Europe
Travel & Explore being my passion I am always connected to the World. Either I make my travel plans or I'm an Advisor. It was last year when I was too busy with my work schedules and after having lost my passport I couldn't travel. My sister and I planned to send our parents for Euro trip. My father having studied at Netherlands in the 1990s it would be revisiting old memories and moments and for my Mama it would be an all-new experience.
One month prior to the trip I was busy studying the travel packages and negotiating with our travel agents. As I got so involved it was giving me a feeling as if I was going. Countdown started for their trip and so was my excitement. After getting the visa stamped they were all set. Finally, the day arrived and they had to board their flight to London from Mumbai.
Once they landed at Heathrow they were welcomed by a very good guide who briefed about the trip . After checked-in at Park-Inn my Dad called and my curious mind enquired all about the weather, how was the flight and how are they feeling. I could feel that they are super excited for the next 12days.
Next day post breakfast they went to Swami Narayan temple to have God's blessings followed by the city tour of London. Crossing the London bridge, watching the Big ben, Madam Tussauds museum proceeded to the London Port to board the Cruise ship to Netherlands. Sailing by night as you take a stroll on the ships deck give feelings of Titanic.
Next morning as the ship harboured at Amsterdam, the coach was ready at the Port to take all tourists for next part of the journey. The day was spent in visiting Historic Wind Mills of Holland, Cheese and Shoe Factory, Madurodam. Post Lunch the next city which is 1hour drive from Amsterdam was Brussels in Belgium. Overnight stay at Belgium. A city famous for rich chocolates and fine glass.
Driving almost 5 hours they reached the Land of Love-Paris. Eiffel Tower was the first stop where the guide had bought the ticket to go to Second Level. An evening in Paris and a Hop on - Hop off cruise in Seine river is amazing. Dining at different cafes and buying designers are some of the main attractions of the city.
Post breakfast the coach took a drive amongst the hills and valleys of picturesque Europe and reached the most scenic Switzerland. The first stay was at Lucerne. That evening was spent in leisure. Shopping souvenirs and famous Swiss watches. My mom had brought a nice Swiss Military watch for me which she had gifted me on my Birthday. Also Swiss designer for her and my sisters. She even had bought one extra for my would be - the lucky one who gonna come in my life.
The weather at Switzerland was chilly and there was drizzling rain and snowfall at mountain top as they reached Mt.Titlis. The Eurorail experience that takes you through the snow capped mountains is breathtaking. After getting down from the train taking the rotating elevator, one reaches the Top of Europe. There are many adventures available on the top. Rotair and Skywalk over Mt.Titlis are one of the outta world experience. Having lunch in an open air restaurant at the top of Europe is quite romantic. By evening, the train took all the tourists back to Lucerne for an overnight stay at Radisson.
From the land of Snow to the Land of History and Architecture. Italy made a warm welcome. Pisa was on the first day. Leaning tower of Pisa was the main attraction where tourists from across the world had come to enjoy its grandeur. Next two days was spent in Rome, Venice and Vatican City- a must-visit cities in the world for its art, culture, history and architecture. The gondola rides in Venice is a Classy experience.
Vienna at Austria was the next destination country. The countries are so small and the roads are so good that by half a day one crosses countries in Europe. Austria is famous for Skiing in the winters. There are lots of Ski resorts. This is also a country where one can hire self-driven sports car such as BMW / Audi / Merc at a very good price and go on a road trips for weeks. After reading, I have added to my bucket list. At Vienna, a stroll across the wooden bridge decorated with rich colorful flowers is refreshing especially in the evenings. A photo stop at the Kings' Palace which has an all Gold balcony is a center of attraction.
Finally, last but not the least the next destination was Frankfurt, Germany from where there was the return flight to India. The last day was spent in packing bags and having a tour to the BMW factory. Where you can see all the models starting from the first to the latest ones. My mom has never been on a motorcycle, but she was too happy to pose with the super sports BMW motorcycles. Bidding Adieu to Europe the time has come to board Oman Air and reach India via Muscat.
All this time I was here and used to call my parents every day. This was how I was having my EuroTrip by words and imagination. Life is worth to see the moments of happiness and smiles on my parents face. God Bless and keep them happy.
