9 Amazing to-do things in City of lakes (Udaipur) in 24 hours !

Today it is quite easy to write a blog after reading content on Internet and sitting cosily in an A/C room, without even going to that place. Moreover, that is what lot of people have been doing recently, even the authors of some popular blogs/websites. However, I shall give you the glimpse of the places as I was there, not as a tourist but as a local. Because I have been there and lived there for a while :)

So let us start a day at Udaipur, and I shall take you through the beautiful city of lakes or Venice in East, as popularly known.

1. Start your day with a warm sunrise at Lake Fatehsagar; take a stroll or brisk walk along the lakeside. There are proper paved footpaths all around, go beyond them, along the road circumference the lake. Remember the night scene in Bollywood movie Yeh Jawani h Diwani, it was shot on this road. In fact, most of the movie shooting was in Udaipur, including the wedding venue Udai Vilas. You can have tea and Poha at the lakeside.

2. In the late morning, (Around 10 am) get ready for the city ride and first visit the beautiful City palace. Take a guide to know the historical background ( I can’t tell in two lines here :P) You may choose to take a boat ride from the bank of palace itself, but it will cost more so I would suggest to skip it, as you will get clot of boats, outside the palace at Pichola Lake.

3. Next thing take a Boat ride at Lake Pichola, second among the two famous lakes in Udaipur (There are seven lakes in Udaipur)

4. Head to the Karni Mata rope way, which is near to the lake Pichola itself. This place gives you a mesmerizing view of the city, Lake Pichola and city Palace. After noon is certainly not a good time to visit in summers, go in evening if you have more than one day.

5. Roam around the Saheli ki baadi if it is not a hot day. Else, take rest for a while in your hotel and prepare yourself for the exotic evening.

6. Around 4 pm, reach Sajangarh Fort for the lovely sunset, car/bike goes until the top and it is a 5-6km ride from city. The road goes through the wild life sanctuary and Ghat, so make sure you reach there by 5pm (Check local timings as per the season you are visiting). Sajangarh fort gives you a 360-degree view of city with two big lakes and vegetation surrounding the gorgeous city.

7. You will be back from Sajangarh around 7 pm. Next thing is the Exotic dinner you must take at the Pichola lakeside. City palace is lightened up every evening (until 10pm), which gives a breathtaking view of lake and reflection of monuments in water. Go to Ambrai Restaurant, it is the best among all. Other might offer you roof top but this restaurant has the best view and it is just adjacent to lake

8. As soon as you come out of the restaurant, take immediate left (walking); you will find yourself on the Ambrai Ghat. This place is peaceful and serene (You will see this Ghats while boating in Lake Pichola). Sit on the stairs, dip your legs and spent some time here, witnessing the silence of lake.

9. Before you say good night and good-bye to the city, grab a hot coffee at the lake Fatehsagar (Open until 11 pm). Lake Fatehsagar is flooded with youngsters, buzzing around the coffee shops and fast food restaurant on lakeside. Weather is pleasant in night and a hot coffee makes it even better.

Note: There are few other lakes and places near city like Udaisagar Lake, Badi Lake, Ekling ji, you may go to these places only if you have a second day, else this itinerary itself will give you a high! :)
